Planet Of The Apes filmmaker Matt Reeves will apparently take Ben Affleck's place as director of the standalone Batman film after the actor stepped down a few weeks ago citing "considerable hand-wringing" as the reason behind his decision. Sources state while an official confirmation is yet to be made, Reeves has committed to helm the film.
Affleck, who co-wrote the script along with DC Films co-head Geoff Johns, remains on board to play Bruce Wayne (Batman).
The 44-year-old actor had earlier said, "Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film."
