A heavy-duty actioner that merges a natural calamity with a daring heist, this film tries all the tricks to garner a major adrenaline rush but the set-up and mechanics out here are so unbelievable that it's difficult- if not impossible, to suspend your disbelief.

The rural town of New Hope, Ala., has a double whammy just waiting to happen- a hurricane(Category 5 storm) is bearing down on the Gulf coastline while a team of 30 well-armed mercenaries are planning to loot the local treasury facility. Dixie brothers Will (Toby Kebbell) and Breeze (Ryan Kwanten) who lost their father 25 years ago to a hurricane, are now polar opposite adults pre-programmed into a righteous path. They are the ones ordained to save the day.

'xXx' director Rob Cohen stages a Fast and Furious 5 mashed-up with Twister- serving up a disaster calamity heist that is all sound, fury, escapist fare with people, cars and various inanimate objects coming crashing together at never-heard-of high velocities. The so called story accompanying it is threadbare and barren of content and the characters just don't come off as real enough. I guess the cheesy special effects and stunt action might make you chuckle if you are in the mood for it after being stormed by a barrage of silly sounding dialogues and stilted performances. Rob Cohen's helming is a little fanciful provoking an insane set-up with even storm clouds looking ominously like a screaming skull of sorts. It's a wonder that such thankless genre mash-ups are still being made in Hollywood. Even fans of the F&F and xXx series might find themselves hard-pressed to go for it!
