The 'American Pie' actress posed in a printed floral bikini on Friday showing her huge thigh gap and jutting ribs in the new photographs taken as she soaked up the sun in Miami, reports mirror.co.uk.

Although fans were shocked by her shrinking frame, the star, who has recently signed up for the movie "Sharknado 3", appeared to be having a whale of a time with her friends.

The 39-year-old posted a number of sunshine photograph on her image sharing website Instagram, including one with a group of female friends.

She captioned the image: "At the beach with the girls so fun!"

Despite her bony ribcage and and tiny body causing fans to worry about her eating habits, Reid has previously laughed off the criticism, claiming she's always been skinny.

"I'm just a small boned girl, you see? I eat, I eat, I eat, I eat.

"Some people eat too much you yell at them - they're fat. I'm just what I am. So if you wanna get mad at me cause I'm skinny, go ahead. I am what I am, " she told TMZ last year.

Although Reid has always been thin, she has admitted in the past to having bad plastic surgery procedures, including 'body contouring' liposuction which went wrong.
