Will Stranger Things fall victim to the curse of the second season? That was a question niggling at every fan as Netflix announced the latest season of a show that captured the imagination of many with its first outing. The answer to that is a resounding 'no'.

A sci-fi horror show, the first season revolved around the mysterious disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). The second season picks up a year after the incident as residents of Hawkins resume their lives, believing that the worst is behind them. They are proved wrong soon as Will brings with him memories of the Upside Down. As Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) resurfaces with her share of mysteries, Jim Hopper (David Harbour) takes up the job of protecting her.

A new season brings new faces too. So we have Max (Sadie Sink) - a tomboy who finds like-minded people in Mike (Finn Woldhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Lucas Sinclair) - and an adorable nerd in Bob Newby (Sean Astin). Dr Owens (Paul Reiser) will have you questioning his every move.

While the first two episodes may be slow, things pick up thereafter. It's one of those rare shows where every actor boasts of a flawless performance, led by Winona Ryder. Schnapp, who had little to do in the first season, makes up for lost time - every time he's scared, a chill runs down your spine. Brown puts in a heart-wrenching performance again. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer have raised the bar. Now, the wait for season three is going to be unbearable.
