Steve McQueen has revealed that he wants to thank his girlfriend Bianca Stigter for the success of his Oscar nominated film '12 Years A Slave'

London: Steve McQueen has revealed that he wants to thank his girlfriend Bianca Stigter for the success of his Oscar nominated film '12 Years A Slave'.

The director of 'Shame' said that it was his partner Stigter who had the idea and found the original book from 1853, the Daily Star reported.

He said that as soon as he had that book in his hand, it was a revelation for him as that book is a "treasure".

McQueen added that he feels proud of the fact that everybody knows who Solomon is now.
