The announcement comes bang on schedule, with Universal confirming last month that production would begin on October 2.

In the picture, the 46-year-old actress, in her slimmed down avatar, looks every bit of the Bridget we all love.

However, it seems, for this installment of the franchise, she has traded her diary for a scarlet ipad.
