Queen of Katwe, an upcoming biographical drama by India-born filmmaker Mira Nair, explores a simple yet layered journey of an underdog from the streets of rural Uganda.

It stars Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o as a young girl whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess. With support from family and community, she develops confidence and determination to pursue her dream to become an international chess champ.
