British songwriter Rod Temperton, best known for Michael Jackson's Thriller and Rock With You, passed away in London at the age of 66 after 'a brief aggressive battle with cancer', Jon Platt of Warner/Chappell music publishing said.
Temperton's other hits included Off The Wall and Baby Be Mine for Jackson and Boogie Nights for his band Heatwave. "His family is devastated and requests total privacy at this, the saddest of sad times," Mr Platt said.
Temperton's private funeral has taken place. He was nicknamed The Invisible Man because of his low profile. When he joined Heatwave, he had been working in a frozen fish factory. He came up with the title for hit song and album Thriller, which went on to sell millions of copies worldwide.
