When asked by fans on Instagram what inking Tomlinson got, tattoo artist Erik Gillespie replied: "I tattooed him, he got several tattoos." However, the artist did not disclose what the body art were about.

The musician was later spotted out and about in Chicago, sporting a fresh tattoo of number two on his left ring finger and the number eight on the middle finger of the same hand.

The number 28 is the singer's jersey number for soccer club Doncaster Rovers, which he joined as a non-contract player during the 2013-14 season.
