Riverdale star KJ Apa has been cast as the lead in the romantic comedy The Last Summer. The 20-year-old actor will lead an ensemble cast in the film, which will be directed by Bill Bindley, reported Variety.
Bill Bindley and his brother Scott co-wrote the script of the film with a polish by April Prosser. The film follows a group of high school grads whose lives intersect in Chicago over the summer before they start college.
The project is backed by Gulstream Pictures, and will be produced by Mike Karz and Wayne Rice. Shooting is expected to begin in April this year.
