The movie is about a Jewish worker at the Auschwitz concentration camp where he tries to find a rabbi to give a child a proper burial.
Competing with 'Son of Saul' were 'Mustang' (France), 'The Brand New Testament' (Belgium, France, Luxembourg), 'The Club' (Chile) and 'The Fencer' (Finland, Germany, Estonia).
