An emotional Ed Sheeran paid for accommodation for a group of Liberian children after witnessing their plight during a British organisation's charity event on Friday.
The Shape Of You singer was heard enquiring if he could "pay for them to stay in a house until we can get them in a school?" before appealing to viewers to make contributions too.
Event organisers later confirmed that the kids, for whom Ed paid out of his own pocket, were safe.
The singer visited the African country as part of the annual fundraising event, and the footage aired during Red Nose Day. While interacting with the kids, Ed learnt they struggle to survive on a cup of water and piece of bread a day, apart from enduring beating and the threat of rape.
