Arun Sabnis, Shriya's grandfather, ticked a marvelous milestone off his bucket list by visiting 100 countries. Now, we can affirm that globetrotting runs in the family as Shriya is often seen posting pictures from her travel on her social media accounts
In her recent Instagram post, Shriya shared pictures from her surprise visit to her 'ajoba' along with her mother, Supriya Pilgaonkar
Sharing about her delight, Shriya added, "My 'Ajoba' has been a huge inspiration for me all my life. It was his childhood dream to see the world and this year, at the age of 84, he completed 100 countries and there's so much more that he wants to experience. The reason why I say that he has always been my inspiration is because he's truly somebody who believes in living life to the fullest and seeks joy in the smallest things like conversations with people, in nature, in art. We are very much alike and he also happens to be my favourite travel companion. We have travelled a lot around India , and we have also taken a Mediterranean cruise. In fact, two years ago, I made a short film on him to celebrate his passion for travel. And to surprise him and to celebrate with him, my mother and I turned up in the middle of a rainforest in Borneo, which is the third-largest island in the world. We are here now to celebrate with him. I definitely look forward to travelling with him. He wants to visit South Korea next . And hopefully we will do that soon."
Talking about her bond with her 'ajoba,' the versatile actress further added, "Growing up, him and I travelled around a lot in India as well. Something that I must share is that he is someone who always writes and documents his travel experiences and somewhere it's because of him that I have also inculcated the habit of writing a journal. I am constantly writing, recording. For me, these moments are very, very special. I am so happy that I am able to cherish this time with my grandparents and I value that immensely. My grandmother, my grandfather, my mum and I are having a wonderful time here."
Shriya and her mom surprised her 'ajoba' in the middle of a rainforest and are now exploring the picturesque Kinabtangan Rainforest in Sandakan . On the work front, Shriya has some exciting films lined up and will also start the shoot for season 2 for 'The Broken News' and 'Guilty Minds'
