The actor passed away at his residence in South Mumbai on Monday morning due to multiple organ failure.
"He passed away today at 6.55 am peacefully in his sleep at the residence. He has been unwell since quite some time. He had multiple organ failure," Khote's niece, actor Bhavana Balsavar, told PTI.
Viju Khote was a renowned actor not only in Hindi cinema, but also in the Marathi film industry. He became popular for his roles in superhit films like Karz, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Andaz Apna Apna among others.

Viju Khote has over 300 films to his credit in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He was also seen in the much-loved television show, Zabaan Sambhal Ke. Viju Khote was last seen in the 2018 film Jaane Kyun De Yaaron.
