Kangana was accompanied by her co-star Jassie Gill. Jassie will be playing the role of Kangana's husband, Prashant Shrivastava.
Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Panga is a story about hope and aspirations. Kangana will be seen playing the character of Jaya Nigam, who is a national level Kabaddi player who left her dream behind to settle for a regular life with the love of her life.

After leaving the sport years ago, unfulfilled aspirations still haunt Jaya who often ends up kicking her husband in bed. Realisation strikes the Railways ticket executive hard when she spots a kabaddi team waiting for their train at platform and no one recognizes her.
In an interview, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari spoke about working with the Tanu Weds Manu actress. She said, "Kangana and I have become friends over the two-year journey of the film. I have realised that when she loves someone, she will take care of them all her life"
Tiwari also spoke about how the pair backed each other in difficult times during the course of the film; she said, "There were times when she was really upset, in tears. As a friend, I could only support her. If everyone keeps commenting, she will be affected. It's only human."
Kangana had also undergone a physical transformation for this role as well. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari revealed, "Kangana had to put on some weight, but her body type is such that it doesn't look extra on her. She immediately lost the kilos, but has put them back for her next. I don't know how she does it over and over; I have difficulty losing even once."
