Known for her interior designs, Sussanne Khan marked the 10th anniversary of her brainchild, The Charcoal Project by unveiling her collaboration collection of premium bathroom suites and kitchen sinks with Sternhagen and Carysil — owned by the Acrysil Group. “Post the lockdown, people have begun valuing their home space,” says the designer.

Khan believes that people no longer design their homes only with the perspective to welcome outsiders. “Youngsters and older couples are now understanding the value of being with each other and themselves. They have realised how important it is to enjoy personal space at home,” she says, adding that people spend a larger amount of time in the kitchen and bathroom. “The kitchen is a soulful space for families to connect. I have a strong connection with my children in the kitchen, as we cook a lot of things [together]. Irrespective of the family you hail from, it’s important to connect during meals.”

Khan has launched a new collection with an affordable range while also focusing on the latest trend. “I wanted the finishing of everything to be cleaner, modern and have a colour palette that is forward-thinking, and [hints at] spring-summer of next year.” Upping the tech in the bathrooms, she says, “Counters will have a charging plate, and going forward we [want to introduce] a fridge drawer and mirrors with sensors. We have to do these things aesthetically to make it look good and keep it economical.” Khan’s colour palette boasts of muted matte shades like terracotta, olive, muted mushroom and pearl.

“Our first collaboration with Sussanne Khan was in 2019. She has now introduced an interesting range of designs in new colour palettes with our kitchen and bathroom products,” says Chirag Parekh, chairman-managing director, Acrysil Limited.
