Kartik Aaryan

Kartik Aaryan's blockbuster bond with sequels

Kartik Aaryan scored his biggest box office success with his latest film 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'. The success of the film gave him his first Rs 200 crore film as well. He joined the 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' universe with its second part which was released in 2022 right after the pandemic. The film was a smash hit at the box office and audiences wholeheartedly welcomed Kartik as Rooh baba despite an initial reluctance of him replacing Akshay Kumar.  The actor who has now become a bankable box office favourite has two franchise films in his kitty- Anurag Basu's Aashiqui 3 and Pati Patni Aur Woh 2. While one will see Kartik as the new face, the other will see him return to the franchise.  Kartik's blockbuster sequel bond Kartik Aaryan's claim to fame was also with the success of the 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' franchise directed by Luv Ranjan. The films made him popular among the youth and also earned him the title of the monologue boy. Both films, had him play the role of a man who is tired of dealing with his girlfriend and his frustration coming out as a monologue explaining relationship problems.  Kartik's fourth film with Luv Ranjan, 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' marked his first film crossing Rs 100 crore at the box office. While the film was not part of the Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise, the cast and the plot's similarity to the series helped in getting the audience come to the theatre.  In 2019, he starred in the film 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' which also starred Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. In the film he played a corporate man married to a woman in an arranged setup. The film narrates his story as he develops a relationship with a woman he meets at work and is quite different from his wife. The film had a decent run at the box office and is currently in works for a sequel titled 'Pati Patni Aur Woh 2'.  But his real success with a franchise film came with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in 2022 directed by Anees Bazmee. Looking at the reception towards the film, the makers announced a part 3 and the film shattered several box office records despite a clash with Singham Again.  Kartik is the next face of Aashiqui 3, a successful romantic franchise that earlier featured Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. The third part in the franchise will be helmed by Anurag Basu. The sequel misses Kartik was also the face of Imtiaz Ali's famed Love Aaj Kal that was released in 2020. While the film was not being promoted as the sequel to the film of the same name starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, its essence was the same. The film also starred Sara Ali Khan narrated the story of love in today's time (2020). However, the film failed to impress the audience and proved to be a disaster.  On the other hand, Kartik was also announced as the new entrant in the Hera Pheri universe. Back then it was reported that he would be replacing Akshay Kumar's character of Raju. However, a massive social media outrage ensued by fans of the franchise who demanded Akshay return to the franchise. Listening to the audience, the makers got Akshay on board replacing Kartik.

Actress Niki Aneja Walia

Niki Aneja recalls being 'bullied, scarred' while making Pahlaj Nihalani's film

Actress Niki Aneja Walia, the star of several TV shows like Sea Hawks (1996), Saher (1999) and Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani (2002), has opened up about landing her first film opposite Anil Kapoor, and how that experience scarred her so much that she quit her second film, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Films was never the plan even though her father was associated with the industry, but she took up modelling gigs to earn money to fulfill her dream of becoming a pilot. How Niki Aneja landed her first film thanks to Mid-day Niki made her acting debut with Mr. Azaad (1994) starring Anil Kapoor as the hero. Here's how she landed the film: During her modelling days, Niki flew to Seoul, South Korea, to participate in the beauty pageant called Miss World University in 1991. She ended up being the runner-up at the pageant, resulting in her being World Ambassador for Peace 1991-1992 - Miss Arirang as it was called in South Korea. Her success at the pageant was covered in Mid-day, which was noticed by filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani who approached her for Mr Azaad. Initially she was prepared to turn the offer down, but when she found out she was to star opposite Anil Kapoor, she couldn't say no.  Mr Azaad did not work at the box office, but Niki started getting more opportunities. She was offered the lead role in Yes Boss, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. But how did Juhi Chawla end up doing the film? How being bullied during her first film led to Niki Aneja quitting films Niki narrates, "A month before Azaad, my father passed away. I was not in a good headspace. After 5 days of shooting Yes Boss, I went to producer Ratan Jain and wanted to return the Rs 1.5 lakhs advance I was given. I said I don't want to do the film," she told Siddharth Kannan. The reason why she wanted to quit films was the experience she had while working with Pahlaj Nihalani in Mr Azaad. "I wasn't treated nicely during Azaad, and not just because I was a newcomer. I was all of 19. I was expected to go on dinners with distributors after pack-up, in order to sell the film," she narrated. Niki says the kind of conversations that happened during those dinners, she felt objectified as a woman. When she objected to those dinners, Nihalani told her, "Picture nahi bechni hai kya (Don't you want to sell the film?)" "And I said, if you can't sell the film even after signing a star like Anil Kapoor, then what is the point? After that, I became infamous on the sets, ki issne Pahlaj ji ko yeh kaise keh dia? My thought was, if I don't want to do something, how can you force me? After that I decided I will not do films post Yes Boss," Niki shared.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amid Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai divorce, Amitabh shares his thoughts

For months it has been rumoured that actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are headed for a divorce. The couple has never addressed the same- either denying or confirming the news. The rumours got stronger as Aishwarya and her daughter Aaradhya were not seen with Bachchan family at several important occasions. Even on Aishwarya's birthday earlier this month, there were no social media posts from the Bachchan family including Abhishek who would otherwise regularly post for his wife. All these led to fans believing that the rumours around the separation is true. Now, Amitabh Bachchan has addressed the reports on his family doing the rounds. While he did not specifically mention Abhishek and Aishwarya, netizens seem to be convinced that senior Bachchan was addressing the divorce reports.  Amitabh Bachchan reveals why he usually does not discuss family matters Bachchan said he rarely discusses his family publicly as he believes in respecting boundaries and maintaining privacy. "It takes immense courage conviction and a sincerity to be different and believe in its presence in life .. I rarely say much about family, because that is my domain and its privacy is maintained by me," Bachchan wrote. Though the cinema veteran didn't specify in what context he was making these comments, Bachchan said information these days is not properly verified and often used strategically for commercial purposes. "Speculations are speculations .. they are speculated untruths, without verifications. Verifications are sought by the seekers to authenticate their business and commercials of the profession they be in .. I shall not challenge their desire to be in the profession of their choice .. and I shall appreciate their effort in serving society," he said. "But untruths .. or selected question marked information can be a legal safeguard for them that inform .. but the seed of suspected belief is sown with this most used emblem .. the question mark?" he added. Bachchan said any information provided with a hint of doubt is a trap for readers. "When you follow it up with a question mark, you are not only saying that the write may be questionable .. but also quite surreptitiously wanting the reader to believe and expand on it, so that your write gets valued repeats .."your content is done , not just for that one moment, but for many moments ..the reader when they react to it gives content expansion. The reaction could be in belief or in the negative ..anything that be , give credence to the write," the actor said. Bachchan, 82, also expressed a concern about the ethical implications of such practices. "Fill the World with untruth or questioned untruth and your job is over .. how it may have affected the subject individual or situation has been hand washed away from your hands .. your conscience, if ever you have one, has been overridden," he added.  (with inputs from PTI)

Saira and Mr. Rahman made this decision independently," lawyer Vandana Shah told Republic TV.  Mohini Dey, a renowned bass player from Kolkata and a member of Gaan Bangla's Wind of Change, announced her split from her musician husband, Mark Hartsuch, via a joint Instagram post.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Mohini Dey (@dey_bass) Why are AR Rahman and his wife divorcing? Rahman and Saira have attributed their separation to "significant emotional strain" in their relationship. Lawyer Vandana Shah, in a podcast, has talked about reasons why celebrity couples opt for divorce. She mentioned that in Bollywood, it’s usually not infidelity that causes separations, but rather boredom. According to her, celebrities often go through multiple marriages, quickly moving from one relationship to another. While one-night stands are quite common, the real problem is the monotony that leads to relationship failures. Vandana stated, “Their lives are very different. I do not think infidelity is the reason for the failure of their marriages in Bollywood. The cause is boredom. They move from one marriage to another because of boredom, which is peculiar to Bollywood and super-rich families.” She pointed out that this pattern isn’t something she sees in many other types of marriages. She added, “They all live very different sexual lives. The expectations of their sex life is much higher in these setups than a non-Bollywood marriage.” She further explained, “Third, adultery happens very much and one-night stands don’t really matter as much. I am not part of Bollywood, but these are my observations from the cases that have come to me.” Saira Banu cites emotional strain as cause of divorce Saira Banu's lawyer Vandana Shah released an official statement with regards to the couple's decision to separate. The statement read, “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time."
