If you use social media, you will have seen Subtitle-Sachi, a new handle created exclusively to caption designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s glossy fashion campaigns. “All photos belong to Sabyasachi, I just add subtitles. Just having fun until they yell at me,” is the account description left by an anonymous user. Unlike another account, which uses Sabya in its title, Subtitle-Sachi is snappier (you know, like a meme) and tows the line between visual froth and good humour.

The ‘Meow’ captioned beneath the Royal Bengal Tiger logo of the eponymous Sabyasachi brand gives us a first glimpse of the account’s witty meme-y context. The 31 posts, which are live presently do not stray too far from the original band-baaja-baaraat backdrop, while smartly inserting a cultural remark on dowry in one post, talking about humanity’s fav topic - the vaccine - in another, and are generally dotted with relatable everyday comic irony.
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee clocked 20 years in the world of fashion in 2019, and his journey is nothing less than a glorious one. Sabyasachi's lehengas have achieved cult status and become the most sought-after wedding outfit for brides. Women from all walks of life have been inspired by the ace designer's creation, wanting to deck-up in Sabyasachi's lehengas on their wedding day.
