“David Beckham is in India for his UNICEF commitment as a Global Ambassador & he will be meeting Sonam & Anand during his trip to Mumbai. The power-couple will be hosting David today when he is in Mumbai and have invited the crème de la crème icons of the city for a dinner at their residence!” informs a source on conditions of anonymity.
“It is a very private affair. We are hearing only 25 people have made the cut for this grand soirée! Sonam & Anand are major entrepreneurs themselves, with Anand being at the top of the heap with business empire. Sonam is Bollywood royalty and a global fashion icon,” the source adds.
“Let’s look at David now. He is a global icon, his wife too is a fashion icon. Together, they are pop culture shapers of the world. So, there could be more than what meets the eye about this dinner. Let’s wait and watch!” the source concludes.
Beckham will also be attending the India vs New Zealand match at Wankhede match in Mumbai. The winning team will secure a spot in the finals of the World Cup to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Several other Indian celebrities like Rajinikanth, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor are expected to attend the match. The second semi-final match will be held between South Africa and Australia on Thursday.
David Beckham's first stop in India was in Ahmedabad, Gujarat for his duties as Goodwill ambassador of UNICEF. Sharing pictures of his time with kids in the villages of Ahmedabad, Beckham wrote on Instagram, "An incredibly special few days with @unicef here in Gujarat 🇮🇳 It’s a great privilege to see first-hand the work Unicef is doing on the ground to support children and their families. The energy and innovation I have seen here has been so inspiring and I loved hearing the children’s stories and their hopes and dreams for the future. When we empower young people, we see the change they can bring to their communities."
