At a Bollywood awards function in 2015, Salman Khan had sent gossip mills into overdrive by saying that his 'Kick' (2014) co-star Jacqueline Fernandez had been "kicked out" of the sequel to the Sajid Nadiadwala actioner. Whether or not the actor's comments were made in haste was debated, but tongues started wagging about the changed (read: souring) equation between the two.
Now, we hear the lead cast of 'Kick 2' remains unchanged. Salman and Jacqueline will team up for the second instalment of the film, expected to go on floors next year. "Jacqueline hasn't been replaced," a source close to Sajid Nadiadwala's production house says, referring to speculations of the 31-year-old actress making way for either Kriti Sanon or Amy Jackson in Kick part two.
Sajid Nadiadwala's blue-eyed girl, Jacqueline Fernandez, has starred in four of his productions, including the second and third instalments of Sajid-Farhad's 'Housefull' franchise, 'Kick' and Rohit Dhawan's 'Dishoom', which recently hit theatres. In an interview, the actress had admitted that 'Kick' was instrumental in shaping her career. "I think of my career as pre-'Kick' and post-'Kick'. Pre-'Kick' I was sitting at home and wasn't really doing anything... After 'Kick', a lot more offers came my way," she had said.
While the original film was an official remake of Surender Reddy's 2009 Telugu movie by the same name, the makers have decided to go with a fresh script for the sequel. Despite repeated attempts, Sajid remained unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
