The Doses singer says, “It is an honour to have been nominated with such amazing artistes. This win is more special because it is the [listeners] who have voted for us. I started writing when I was 15, and I feel like I’ve grown up with music. I’ve changed as a person just as I have as a musician. It’s important to be yourself in this day and age. Looking inward is important. You should be proud of all your achievements because it’s more about the journey than the destination.”
The win came as a sweet surprise for her, given that the gala marked her first one since the onset of the pandemic. “To have been able to share that experience with my family and celebrate my win with them was lovely,” she signs off.
