Neha Dhupia says Bollywood colleagues did not support awareness marathon

It was an encounter during one of her morning runs that led Neha Dhupia to organise a marathon to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene. The actor recounts, “I saw a senior coach scolding a boy, saying, ‘Why are you running like a girl?’ I found that offensive and questioned the coach, asking him, ‘Sir, what do you mean by that? Girls are outrunning everyone.’ It bothered me that even today, we talk like this. Anita Lobo, who is also a runner, saw this and asked me if I’d be interested in initiating a marathon.” Set to take place on December 8 at MMRDA Grounds, GoFloRun aims to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and women’s health. “In cities, we’re talking about tampons, menstrual cups, etc. But in rural places, girls have to drop out of school after the onset of their periods. That’s the disparity we are staring at,” she exclaims. Besides putting her might behind the cause, Dhupia requested her colleagues in Bollywood to lend their support. But she was left disappointed. “I reached out to many people and told them to do a photo-op. But all of them turned down, saying they were busy. Otherwise people are free. But when it comes to helping, no one does it,” she rues, adding, “I get when artistes choose to be silent over certain matters on which their opinion can cause hurt. But for these causes, it’s good to use our voice.” Dhupia, who is currently shooting Roadies 20, says that even at work, she ensures that her surroundings are gender-sensitised. She notes, “Our sets have become much better when it comes to access to hygiene for women. I’m doing a show where we’re on the road, and we all are sensitive about the hygiene and comfort of all the women working with us.”

Junaid Khan

Junaid Khan to have two releases on V-Day 2025 weekend?

We haven’t seen much of Junaid Khan since his Bollywood debut in June with Maharaj, but it looks like we might get a double dose of him in February 2025. Trade insiders suggest that his yet-untitled next, produced by superstar-father Aamir Khan and co-starring Sai Pallavi, is eyeing a Valentine’s week release. As luck would have it, his romantic drama with Khushi Kapoor, co-produced by Boney Kapoor, is already lined up for a February 7 outing. Two Junaid-starrers releasing back-to-back will only eat into each other’s business, but insiders say that the producers of both are keen to cash in on the Valentine’s Day hype. Khushi Kapoor and Sai Pallavi A source told us, “Aamir has been eyeing February 14 for months. They have planned promotions and distribution channels around this date. So, changing it now is difficult.” Meanwhile, a source associated with the Boney and Phantom Studios’ production, said, “In September, the makers had announced the release date. Keeping the film’s theme of young romance in mind, they want to stick to the February window.” The Junaid-Khushi starrer, directed by Advait Chandan, is an official remake of the Tamil hit, Love Today (2022). It is now heard that the producers will meet soon to discuss the possibility of moving dates. The source adds, “Right now, Aamir is busy with Laapataa Ladies’ promotions in the US for Oscars. But he is planning to meet the producers of Love Today remake later this month, before the two parties lock their dates. An announcement of the new dates is expected by December.”

Salman Khan's representative clarify he is not associated with The Great Indian

After the makers of Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show landed in a legal soup for allegedly disparaging the legacy of Nobel laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore, rumours were rife that actor Salman Khan—who had bankrolled the television version of the show—had also received a notice. However, the star’s representatives have issued a statement denying any association with the series. Khan’s representative shared in a statement, “We are not associated with The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Certain sections of the media are reporting that Salman Khan and SKTV have also received the notice, which is incorrect.” The notice was sent on behalf of Dr Mondal, President of the Bongo Bhashi Mahasabha Foundation (BBMF), on November 1. It accused the makers of hurting cultural sentiments by disrespecting the Bengali poet. The latest to join the bandwagon is Subhash Ghai, who revealed yesterday that he was creating a follow-up to his 2004 drama, Aitraaz. Co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the movie gained critical acclaim and began its Academy Awards campaign with much fanfare. Khan recently kicked off the campaign at New York’s Indian food restaurant, The Bungalow, where he was joined by Rao. The duo was seen posing with chef Vikas Khanna, who hosted the event, creating buzz for the film in the US Oscars circuit. Another one in his kitty Vicky Kaushal will headline Mahavatar, an upcoming mythological film from Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik, the makers announced yesterday. The film will feature Kaushal as Chiranjeevi Parashurama, the “eternal warrior of dharma”. It will be released in theatres on Christmas 2026. The production house unveiled the project on its social media handles along with a first-look poster of Kaushal. “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma,” read the post, and included other details relating to its release. Kaushal is also starring in the production house’s Chhaava, which will hit screens on December 6. The real chat show? Telugu star Rana Daggubati is set to host his eponymous streaming chat show that will see a star-studded line-up of actors from the south Indian film industries. The Rana Daggubati Show will be an eight-episode Telugu original series, with the actor having been the creative mind behind it. The guest list includes Dulquer Salmaan, Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Sreeleela, Nani, SS Rajamouli, and Ram Gopal Varma, among others. “For too long, talk shows have just scratched the surface when it comes to getting to know our favourite celebs. But we’re flipping the script! Our show is a backstage pass into the real lives of these stars—many of whom are my buddies and colleagues,” said the actor of the show that premieres on November 23. Sunny gets candid Sunny Leone was recently invited as a guest on the podcast of Indian-Australian actor and activist, Amy Aela. Among the topics that Leone discussed on Kindness with Amy were the Indian government’s treatment of dogs, building a cruelty-cosmetic business, how her love for animals served as motivation to turn vegetarian, and her decision to adopt her daughter, Nisha Kaur Webber. Ahaan’s next goes on floors Mohit Suri has kicked off his film with Ahaan Panday, who will make his acting debut with this venture. The project, a young love story under Yash Raj Films’ banner, commenced with a night shoot at Mumbai’s St Xavier’s College.
