Priyanka Chopra, our very own 'Desi Girl' recently delved into the subject of her career, juggling her family. Talking to Tiffany Reid for the Marshalls Good Stuff Social event. Priyanka Chopra reflected on the importance of valuing time after her father fell gravely ill. Priyanka Chopra's father, Ashok Chopra passed away in 2013 after battling Cancer. The actress said, "I don’t remember how many of my mother’s birthdays I have forgotten or I might have missed. How many times I forgot to call her in my 20s? or how many times like I missed Diwali because I am working in Europe and they don’t have Diwali here so it’s fine. I just skipped and missed and didn’t think it was okay till I did.”
“Till my dad died and I didn’t have another Diwali to be with him. When he got sick, it was a really big… I think that was a very momentous moment for me where I realised that life is short and we worry about so many trivial things when there are so many big things for us to worry about. I think focusing on that brings you to the ground,” she added.
Priyanka Chopra was recently in the news for this heartwarming reason too. She conducted a masterclass on ‘The Mind of an Actor’ that was hosted by actor Bhumi Pednekar, who is hugely inspired by PC’s trajectory as an artiste. At this session, Priyanka hailed Bhumi’s journey in cinema and particularly lauded her performance in her debut film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha!'
Priyanka addressed Bhumi saying, “You knew you wanted to be an actor. You knew from when you were very young that Ye Mumbai Nagri Meri Hai, mujhe yaha naam banana hai. Mere liye ye nahi tha. I will talk about my journey for someone who was dropped into this profession as an actor and I am a hustler. Ap mujhe kuch bhi dedo karne ke liye mai karlungi. Either I do it a 100% or I don't attach my name to it.”
Priyanka Chopra went on to ask Bhumi, “How much weight did you have to put on for Dum Laga Ke?” To this Bhumi replied, “I put on more than 30 kgs, after that I stopped counting. Once I touched 95 kilos I was that's it!” Priyanka Chopra hailed Bhumi here saying, “You were so amazing, I mean the weight and all was great but just your acting man. You were amazing!”
