Asserting that Salman Khan is the best judge when deciding how to sell himself on screen, Prabhudheva reflects on their 12-year relationship as director-actor.

Rather reticent, Prabhudheva’s humble persona could well be an antidote to Salman Khan’s flamboyance. And while the duo’s pairing for Wanted had seemed to be uncanny in 2009, they have, via several further collaborations, established that their distinct sensibilities complement one another.

As the filmmaker-choreographer gears up for the release of his next, the Khan-fronted Radhe - Your Most Wanted Bhai, Prabhudheva tells mid-day, “Sir [Khan] has a persona [that is unique]. We are acquainted with one another’s working methods, and follow a plan, when on set. He has knowledge about what his fans want from him, and love about him. Because we are both aware of the different essentials [of making a film], we respect one another, which makes the process of working together, easier.”
Khan, he admits, is eager to share a prominent message via his films. With this offering, the aim was to discourage the youth from using drugs. “Not just one person, even college students can help the police in curbing drug usage. In the movie, Radhe takes the help of students to catch the mafia. That is a good scene.”
In their third collaboration, Prabhudheva says the brief given to him was to work on the film’s style. “Of course, the story is different too. But it is the styling that we wanted to enhance.” The film is slated to release worldwide on May 13, and on ZEEPlex, using the pay-per-view model.
