Not Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan's invited to this party

Following Manish Malhotra's date issues, rumours suggest Aaryan replaces him for Kirik Party remake

Over the past few months, rumours were rife that Sidharth Malhotra is the frontrunner to play the lead in the remake of the Kannada hit, Kirik Party (2016). Now, it has been learnt that given Malhotra's chock-a-block date diary, the makers have approached Kartik Aaryan for the project.

A source reveals, "Sidharth was in talks with producer Ajay Kapoor and director Abhishek Jain for quite some time. But he has already allotted his dates to Ekta Kapoor's Shotgun Shaadi and the Vikram Batra biopic that is being produced by Karan Johar. Ajay couldn't wait as long as next year for Sidharth's dates. Post the success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, he had an elaborate meeting with Kartik, who loved the coming-of-age story."

A campus comedy, the original saw Rakshit Shetty toplining the cast. The source adds that given Aaryan's popularity among the young generation, Kapoor felt he would be a perfect fit. The film has also been remade in Telugu as Kirrak Party. The official announcement on the Hindi remake is expected by next week. Aaryan refused to comment.
