Katrina Kaif had once lamented that Bollywood infrequently chalks out a female character's role so well that it demands extensive preparation from the actress essaying the part. It was then cited that her opinion was purely based on the kind of roles she was bagging. But, it appears that tables have turned for Kat, who had to invest several hours to prepare for her part of a journalist in Jagga Jasoos.
A unit hand tells mid-day, "Kat plays a journalist and she had been living the character for several months. She always knew that this character would need extensive preparation, and wanted to get the mannerisms right." Kat interacted with well known journalists to learn about the way they work, says the source, adding that she had watched 100 hours of footage on video-streaming platform, YouTube, to learn more about the lives of journalists.
"She would watch behind-the-camera footage of journalists and how they approached their stories. She also watched a few famous movies and referred to books to understand the kind of questions they ask their subjects."
Katrina too seems to have a different stance on the approach towards her craft today. She says, "The beauty of being an actor is that I get to play different characters. Each character has its own graph and needs some amount of preparation and that's what's exciting and challenging too."
