Veteran actor Kishore Nandlaskar passes away at 81

A popular figure in the Marathi film industry, Kishore also made a mark in the Hindi film industry with memorable roles in films such as Vaastav, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Singham, Simmba, to name a few.

Veteran actor Kishore Nandlaskar passed away on April 20, due to coronavirus-related complications. He was 81.


A popular figure in the Marathi film industry, Kishore also made a mark in the Hindi film industry with memorable roles in films such as Vaastav, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, Singham, Simmba, to name a few.



Kishore Nandlaskar's grandson Anish confirmed the news to ABP. He said, "My grandfather was admitted to a COVID-19 centre in Thane on 14 April after he tested positive last week. He breathed his last in the centre between 12.30 pm to 1 pm."


Anish added, "He was having trouble breathing and talking before being admitted to the COVID centre. His oxygen level had also significantly fallen".

Nandlaskar is survived by his wife and three sons.

The actor made his debut in 1982 with Marathi film "Navare Sagle Gadhav" and went to act in movies like "Bhavishyachi Aishi Taishi: The Prediction", "Gaon Thor Pudhari Chor" and "Jara Japun Kara".

Some of his notable performances in Hindi films include Govinda-starrer "Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain", Sanjay Dutt's "Vaastav", Ajay Devgn's "Singham" and "Simmba" starring Ranveer Singh.

He was last seen in Mahesh Manjrekar web-series "1962: The War In The Hills".

Mourning his death, actor Manoj Bajpayee wrote on Twitter, "Sad news!!! May god bless his soul."

Amruta Subhash remembered Nandlaskar as a great actor. “#KishoreNandlaskar passes away due to covid, we have lost a great great actor! His sense of timing was unmatchable. Salute to you Kishor kaka (sic),” she said.
