Speaking at a film festival, Priyanka Chopra Jonas revealed that when a female-led film doesn’t work, she considers it to be a ‘collective failure’ of all women. She shared that she was advised against taking on Fashion (2008), and doing a female-led film in the early stages of her career. “There’s a lot of pressure when you [are part of] a female-led film, because we have few [of them being made]. We are seeing the success of female-led films, but [achieving that] is tough. When such a film doesn’t do well, I feel [it is a] collective failure of all women. I feel we have taken them a few steps back. This has to work because there are a few of us who get the opportunity to do this, and we have to do it well, whether [we are] filmmakers, actors, writers, or hair and make-up artistes.”

From the khiladi

Actor Paras Kalnawat has an undying love for action sequences, and revealed that for a recent fight sequence in his show, Kundali Bhagya, he took inspiration from Akshay Kumar’s films. “It’s been such an exhilarating experience to delve into the world of action. I’ve been an admirer of the action sequences in Akshay Kumar’s films. The way he seamlessly blends action and charisma in his portrayals has been a constant source of inspiration for me. I watched some of his best action movies as soon as I got to know I would be shooting something similar,” he said.

Being my own designer

Sonam K Ahuja said she styled herself in her film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. “It was a film that reached the length and breadth of India. It was one of those films of mine that worked very well. I had styled myself in it; I had picked the western wear, while [a designer] designed the Indian wear. I remember going to a couple of weddings [after the film released] and seeing a lot of girls wearing the same clothes. I thought that was wonderful. I realised, that is the power of cinema,” said the actor. The movie also starred Salman Khan.

Dekha na, haye re, socha na

You never know what can catch the fancy of social media users. Something as innocuous as Cristiano Ronaldo failing to notice Salman Khan at an event appeared to be their fodder for a fair part of the day yesterday. While fans questioned why the footballer ignored the actor, and began to troll both, rumours were put to rest after another picture of them chatting at a boxing match emerged. “Shameless people are trying to degrade our superstar,” wrote one fan. Guess this was a fire without any fuel then?

Sweet 26

Yesterday, Karisma Kapoor took to Instagram to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Dil To Pagal Hai with a heart-warming memory. Sharing a photo in which she is seen in her character’s look standing in front of an artwork of her face, she captioned the image: “A very special film released on this day. Join me in celebrating.” The dance-based film also featured Shah Rukh Khan, and Madhuri Dixit-Nene. Akshay Kumar featured in a cameo.

Trouble again for Badshah

Singer-rapper Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, alias Badshah was grilled by the Maharashtra Cyber Police for promoting an app in connection with the probe into a digital piracy complaint, official sources said. Badshah, 37, was reportedly quizzed for over two hours for endorsing the app, which had screened the IPL 2023 matches. The complainant has contended that it held the broadcast rights to the tournament, but the tourney was simultaneously screened on the app which was endorsed by Badshah. Badshah had shared some of the videos on social media.

A win for dad

Actor Angad Bedi marked his international sports debut by winning gold in the 400 metres race at the International Masters 2023 Athletics Championship, held in Dubai. He dedicated the medal to his father, former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, who died last week at the age of 77. Bedi participated in the race to honour his father, and his legacy as a cricketer. He took to Instagram to share a set of pictures from the tournament and wrote, “Thank you, dad, for being with me. I miss you.”
