On Thursday, Nora Fatehi appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi in the money laundering case of Rs 200 crore against conman Sukesh Chandrasekar and actor wife Leena Maria Paul, who featured in Shoojit Sircar’s John Abraham-starrer Madras Cafe (2013). The couple is in police custody. Fatehi was questioned to determine her connection with the accused. Jacqueline Fernandez has also been summoned by the ED in the same case. She had deposed before the law enforcement agency in August. The actors are said to be helping the ED take the probe forward and establish the money trail. The two have also been allegedly conned by Chandrashekhar and Paul.

Dholakia disappointed
Rahul Dholakia is the latest to extend support to Aryan Khan. After the court reserved the order on the star son’s bail plea till October 20, the filmmaker posted, “I respect and support people doing their job. Unfortunately, this is not seeming to be about that. Disappointed with the decision of extending Aryan’s jail term.” Shah Rukh Khan featured in Dholakia’s Raees (2017) alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan.
Second outing
There had been chatter since early this year about a sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). It appears that things have fallen into place. On Thursday, the film’s lead cast, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, took to Instagram to announce that “something very special” is coming up. Though the two did not mention the film’s name, they wrote, “The katha continues.” A few days ago, Patel was spotted at director Anil Sharma’s office, which further fuelled speculation. Will Deol recreate his iconic scene of uprooting a hand pump in a fit of rage in part two?
Why create stereotypes?
The trailer of Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani-starrer Meenakshi Sundareshwar is being called out by a section of netizens for “stereotyping Tamilians”. Karan Johar’s romantic comedy, which marks the directorial debut of Vivek Soni, is set in Madurai. “Another Bollywood film to show South Indians as vegetarian, folk song listening, Rajinikanth-loving and pretentious English- speaking people. Grow up, guys,” read one of the tweets. A social media user posted, “I don’t know when Bollywood will understand that all Tamilians are not Brahmins and all of them are not vegetarians.” Another user commented, “Bollywood people showing the South is like Hollywood showing India. No one has any clue, except for the generic things they think that represents the culture.” The film drops digitally next month.
Fresh start
After the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Anek, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has moved on to his next. On Thursday, he announced a socio-political drama, Bheed, headlined by Rajkummar Rao. The film marks their first collaboration. Sinha was always keen to work with Rao. The film rolls in Lucknow next month.
New pairing?
The buzz is that the makers are planning to cast Kareena Kapoor Khan alongside Prabhas in Spirit. The multilingual, which marks the South sensation’s 25th film, was announced last week. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial venture sees the Baahubali star in a never-seen-before avatar. As Saif Ali Khan is working with Prabhas in Adipurush, the two have struck up a friendship. Prabhas recently treated Bebo to Hyderabadi delicacies. Bonding over food can make way for new professional ties.
Sallu forays into cryptocurrency
Salman Khan has announced the launch of his Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection. It will be available on BollyCoin, a Bollywood-themed NFT, which allows the superstar’s fans to invest in unseen footage, clips and stills from his films, iconic dialogues, posters and merchandise. In September, Amitabh Bachchan and Sunny Leone joined the NFT club. Bollywood is catching up on the crypto trend, which is considered the new and exciting future of the world.
Sidharth’s swansong
Late television star Sidharth Shukla and girlfriend Shehnaaz Gill’s last outing together has been retitled Adhura. The music video was initially called Habit. “Ek adhura gaana, ek adhuri kahani... Adhura... coming soon,” music label Saregama took to Twitter to announce the new title, a tribute to the memory of Shukla. The two had shot for the track in Goa earlier this year. The song is rendered by Shreya Ghoshal and Arko.
Work beckons despite injury

Nimrat Kaur is nursing an injured foot. She has pulled a muscle, which requires her leg to be in a cast. On Thursday, she was using a walking stick at producer Dinesh Vijan’s office. Kaur features in his upcoming film, Dasvi, co-starring Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam. It appears that there were some pressing issues to be looked at as she made her way despite the pain and discomfort. Kaur hurt her leg after she began vigorously working out post a break.
