Wamiqa Gabbi is upbeat with the success of her web series, Jubilee. Buoyed by the developments in her professional life, the talented actor gifted herself her first car. Wamiqa, who relocated from Punjab to Mumbai a few years ago, recently bought her first ride, a Jeep Meridian. Sharing that she is overwhelmed with the love and support for her act in Jubilee, the actor said, “This vehicle is a symbol of my perseverance and serves as a reminder of the incredible opportunities that lie ahead.”  Calling it an unbelievable experience in her social media post, she wrote, “I won’t be able to experience this feeling again. I’ll always remember my parents’ support, and how I bought this car with my hard-work.”

Sree Leela to replace Rashmika

Following the success of her last few films, Sree Leela seems to have become a favourite with filmmakers down south. Last week, she was reportedly upgraded as the leading lady in director Trivikram’s Guntur Kaaram, starring Mahesh Babu after Pooja Hegde opted out. Now, Sree has stepped into Rashmika Mandanna’s role after the latter exited director Venky Kudumula’s next with Nithiin. Sree is fast establishing herself as a bankable actor down south. She also has Aadikeshava, Skanda, Bhagvanth Kesari, VD12, and Ustaad Bhagat Singh lined up.

Censor Board playing safe

Considering the rap it got from the Supreme Court for Adipurush, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seems to be extra cautious with Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film, Oh My God 2 (OMG 2). Reportedly, the Examining Committee (EC), which views and certifies films, has recommended the Revising Committee (RC) to review Amit Rai’s directorial venture that also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. Sources claim that since the film, which has Akshay play Lord Shiva, has a religious angle, the Censor Board is being careful to avoid the Adipurush controversy. With the film slated to arrive in cinemas on August 11, the makers are hopeful of getting the CBFC clearance in time for the release.

Kiara’s cameo with SRK?

It looks like Kiara Advani is on a roll. Satyaprem Ki Katha, her romantic drama with Kartik Aaryan, was not only received well by the audiences, but also earned her praise from the critics. Now, rumours are rife that the actor will be seen in a brief part in Jawan. Apparently, she has a cameo in the special song that Shah Rukh Khan shot for his upcoming epic entertainer with south director Atlee over the last few days. It is being said that Deepika Padukone, who has a small but pivotal part in the movie, was also present on the set at YRF Studios. Sources claim that the peppy track is a significant part of the narrative and will feature an interesting mix of Indian and international dancers. Talking of starry cameos, Sanjay Dutt also has a guest appearance in the movie that releases on September 7.

The success of Pathaan and the hype around Fighter has made Siddharth Anand a much-in-demand filmmaker. So much so that his next production venture starring Saif Ali Khan has been acquired by Netflix for R60 crore. The mission-driven action thriller, to be helmed by Robby Grewal, also marks Saif and Siddharth’s reunion 16 after years since Ta Ra Rum Pum. The rest of the cast and crew are being finalised and the film is slated to go on floors later this year.

Twice as lucky

Pragati Mishra, who plays Shubhra in the web series UP 65, considers Vishal Bhardwaj her lucky charm. About six years ago, he launched Nikhil Sachan’s novel UP 65, on which the campus comedy is based. Moreover, she plays a small part in the pilot episode of Vishal’s new show, Charlie Chopra. Calling it a beautiful coincidence, Pragati says, “Before my first shot, Vishal sir congratulated me and the other cast members for our audition tapes. Later, when we were blocking the scene, he suggested adding a melody that he made on the spot. He told us to improvise that bit before the actual scene began. I was awe-struck with the way he was so motivating on set.”
