Birthday girl Kareena Kapoor Khan was showered with love from industry folk as she turned 41 yesterday. Sister Karisma shared pictures from their childhood and wrote, “Will always be by your side. Happy birthday to the best sister in the world. My lifeline.” Filmmaker Karan Johar, among Kapoor’s closest friends, shared a selfie and wrote, “We are pouters and posers in crime! So much love for my favourite girl on her special day!” Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who reportedly once had a frosty relationship with Kapoor, shared a special video message.

Kangy weighs in on Alia’s ad
Kangana Ranaut took a dig at Alia Bhatt for her latest bridal advertisement, which sees her question the tradition of kanyadaan in a wedding ceremony. “Kanyadan ho ya putradan, the way society looks at the concept of renunciation shows its core value system. When they start to look down on the idea of daan, you know it is time for re-establishment of Ram Rajya,” she wrote, urging brand managers to avoid exploiting rituals to make sales.

It’s a wrap for Rani
Rani Mukerji completed the first schedule of her next feature film, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, which was being filmed in Estonia. Directed by Ashima Chibber, the film follows a mother who wages a battle against an entire country. According to the makers, the cast and crew shot in a bio bubble. The final schedule is expected to begin in India soon.
Bees saal baad, for Basu
Bipasha Basu completed 20 years in the film industry yesterday. Her debut film, Ajnabee, featured an ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Bobby Deol. Taking to Instagram, Basu shared, “This is the first day when viewers welcomed me into their hearts. Ajnabee will be special forever. I am thankful for my directors Abbas Bhai and Mustan Bhai.”

In an interview to a website, Diljit Dosanjh hinted at a fallout with artistes from the Bollywood fraternity. Dosanjh, who quickly found favour in consumers of Hindi films with movies like Udta Punjab, reportedly said, “I don’t want to work in Bollywood. I have no desire to become a big Bollywood star. I love music and I can make it without anyone’s interference. No one can tell me this will work or that will work.”

Kubbra Sait, who plays a pivotal part in the upcoming Apple TV+ sci-fi drama series, Foundation, starring Jared Harris, took to social media to share a glimpse of the amount of prosthetic work that is being employed for her character’s look. The show reportedly chronicles a band of exiles on their journey to save humanity, and rebuild civilisation.
No laughing matter
Samantha Akkineni may have grabbed eyeballs with her ability to pull off high-octane action sequences in The Family Man 2, but she doesn’t find the task of tickling the funny bone equally seamless. Admitting that she realised comedy was a tough genre to crack while working on Oh Baby, she said, “It was new for me, but I always felt that I should give comedy a try. It is tougher than emotional scenes. It’s difficult to nab the timing, and the pauses.”
