Have you heard?

Getting away together

Rashmika Mandanna’s Bollywood debut, Goodbye, opened in cinemas yesterday. Given that it was a special moment for her, it seems she opted to celebrate it with a special person in her life, Vijay Deverakonda. The two actors were spotted at the international airport last morning. We hear they headed to the Maldives for a holiday. It was only recently that Rashmika termed the reports of her being a relationship with Vijay ‘cute’. Don’t know why the two are coy about their relationship, when even Vijay’s Liger heroine Ananya Panday indicated on Koffee with Karan that he is “always in a rush to meet mika”. Whatever happened to pyaar kiya toh darna kya and all that?
With special thanks to Kriti
Those who have seen Goodbye might have noticed that Kriti Sanon received a ‘Special Thanks’ in the credits. Reportedly, the film’s director Vikas Bahl revealed that the title was suggested by Kriti. She felt that since most of his movies have an English title, Goodbye would be apt for the Amitabh Bachchan, Neena Gupta and Rashmika Mandanna starrer. Interestingly, sources tell us that Kriti was initially considered for the role. But things didn’t materialise and eventually Rashmika was signed on for the family drama. Considering that Kriti is working with the director in his two-part action-entertainer Ganapath, co-starring Tiger Shroff, there’s a good chance she heard the script. And knowing what the storyline is all about, she must have felt Goodbye was an apt title.

Clash of the heroines
Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi’s maiden collaboration Double XL has a new release date. The slice-of-life dramedy, initially slated to release on October 14, has now been deferred to November 4. While it avoids a clash with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh’s Doctor G, and Parineeti Chopra and Hardy Sandhu’s Code Name Tiranga, Sona-Huma’s offering is set for another face-off nonetheless. It will vie with Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter and Siddhanth Chaturvedi’s Phone Bhoot, and Janhvi Kapoor’s Mili for the box-office pie. Though Kat’s horror comedy had booked the date in advance, it remains to be seen if producer Boney Kapoor will officially announce the same date for his first film with daughter Janhvi or look for another option.
Going solo
It appears that after films like Chhorii and Janhit Mein Jaari, Nushrratt Bharuccha is looking to do more heroine-centric films. Her newest venture, Akelli seems to be a step in that direction. The actor recently shared the first look of the film, saying, “Apni pe aa jaaye… toh ek akelli hi kaafi hai!” Helmed by debutant Pranay Meshram, the story is set in Iraq, where the protagonist overcomes the difficulties of being trapped in a desert. Even as she is slated to begin filming soon, she has two releases with Akshay Kumar lined up. The first is the Diwai offering, Ram Setu, which also features Jacqueline Fernandez. Next is Selfiee, also starring Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty, that is slated to arrive on February 24, 2023.
