Have you heard? Breakthrough in theft at Ahujas’

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja

Following recent reports of a theft at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s Delhi home, it is learnt that the police has made a breakthrough. After her mother-in-law Priya Ahuja filed a complaint with the Tughlag Road police station, a case under IPC section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) and investigations were started. In a raid conducted by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Special Staff Branch of New Delhi district, caretaker Aparna Ruth Wilson and her husband Naresh Kumar Sagar were apprehended. The cops said that the stolen jewellery and cash, collectively of about Rs 2.40 crore, is yet to be recovered. The police added that further investigation is underway and all the people employed at Ahujas’ home have been interrogated.

Akki pockets another deal

It appears that after promoting vests, Bollywood stars are now lining up to endorse flavoured cardamom. After Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, now Akshay Kumar has jumped on the cardamom brand-wagon. Apparently, Khiladi Kumar was initially apprehensive about endorsing a flavoured elaichi brand, but eventually gave his nod. How, you ask? Samajhdaar ko ishaara hi kaafi hai.

Legal hurdle cleared

Even though the upcoming Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer is a remake of the 2019 Telugu hit, Jersey, the film got into a legal wrangle. Writer Rajneesh Jaiswal claimed that he owns the movie’s story and had sued the makers of the Hindi remake in the Bombay High Court. The matter was decided yesterday. Pleased with the court’s order, producer Aman Gill has been quoted as saying, “With the hearing scheduled for Wednesday, we had no time to plan for the Thursday release. Hence, we decided to postpone the release by a week. Getting a favourable order yesterday has cleared the way for our release on April 22.”

Rakul picks Ajay, the person

After De De Pyaar De (2019), Rakul Preet Singh is teaming up with Ajay Devgn in his upcoming Eid offering, Runway 34. While their first collaboration was a breezy romcom and Ajay was only associated with it as an actor, the April 29 release is also produced and directed by him. Asked who was easier to work with — Ajay the actor or the director — Rakul promptly said, “Ajay the person is easy to work with. Hence, the actor in him and the director in him are easy to collaborate with.”

Happy to reunite with Arjun

Purab Kohli, who will be soon seen in London Files, is happy to collaborate with Arjun Rampal again. “It was fabulous to be back on a set with Arjun after Rock On 2. He really shines in this one,” beams Purab, who plays a media baron in the thriller web series. He shares that even though it is a special appearance, it was an interesting experience to essay a character so unlike his real self. “His past secrets threaten to destroy everything he has worked for. In the middle of this crisis, his daughter goes missing. The character and the role he plays in the narrative was enough for me to take it up,” says Purab.

Emergency operation

Arshad Warsi underwent a surgery for kidney stone at a suburban hospital yesterday. The actor took an off on Tuesday from the shoot of Abhishek Dogra’s crime comedy, Jeevan Bheema Yojana, as he was unwell. His doctor advised him to schedule the operation the following day. A source associated with the movie said, “The surgery went well and he should be able to resume shoot soon.”

Sharing business strategies

KGF actor Yash probably has an answer that most B-Town stars ask: Why don’t Bollywood films do roaring business in the south like Pushpa: The Rise and RRR are doing in the Hindi-speaking territories? He points out, “Maybe Hindi filmmakers should also see other aspects than just releasing their films.” Yash further explained, “It is how you collaborate with people and banners, like how we have with Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. Similarly, Bollywood filmmakers need to come with good production houses in south, who can sell their movies, as we did for the KGF franchise.”
