The fashion designer, whose pieces have many takers in the movie industry, is thrilled to have styled her actor-partner Arjun Rampal in Crakk—Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa. She says it all started with the actor having a distinct look in mind for director Aditya Datt’s sports action film. “My label, Deme, works a lot with stylists on films and ads. Arjun and I both share a love for fashion. He had a specific look in mind for Crakk and felt I could achieve it. So, my team and I started designing the looks and put the mood board together. He loved it, and so did Aditya Datt,” she smiles.
Demetriades’ previous styling gigs include collaborations with Lisa Haydon, Aditi Rao Hydari and Shibani Akhtar. Working on the Vidyut Jammwal and Rampal-starrer was a creatively satisfying experience for her. “The creative process was incredible. We shot at exciting locations in Krakow and Warsaw. Seeing the clothes in such interesting settings is fun. While we customised some key looks, most of them were sourced and purchased from international designers and brands. [We also used] a lot of upcycled army gear, vintage leather and denim.”
With her good looks, it’s not surprising that she has got movie offers. The designer made her acting debut in the Telugu movie, Oopiri (2016) with Nagarjuna. She teases that there is more to come. “I have done a cute role in a comedy where I play Arjun’s love interest. It’s a movie shot in the UK and produced by Viki Bharari. It should be released this year.”
