Farhan Akhtar said a regretful no to A R Rahman for an offer to sing in Blue for Zayed Khan. Rahman had earlieru00a0 offered to have Himesh singu00a0for him.
Now the song composed for Farhan has been sung by Vijay Prakash (the singer who has done the playback for Quickgun Murugun). Vijay also sang for Rahman in Yuvvraj and Swades.
The matteru00a0 wasu00a0 more or less confirmed when after a longish silence, Farhan saidu00a0 a reluctant no to the song that Rahman wanted Akhtar to sing for Blue.
The song entitled Fiqrana was composed keeping in mind Farhan's range and style of singing. And Rahman had personally requested Farhanu00a0 to do the song.
Though Farhan remained unavailable for comment, itu00a0 isu00a0 understood that he begged off because he wants his singing voice to be identified only with his own screenu00a0 persona.
Says Blue director Tonyu00a0 D'Souza, "We wereu00a0 very keen to have Farhan sing foru00a0 us. But he couldn't. So we gotu00a0 Vijay Prakash for Fiqrana.
Fact: It was Himesh Reshammiya who first decided that he'd sing on screen only for himself.
