Iconic fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, the couturist who celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Michelle Obama would run to for a red carpet hit, passed away on October 20.

He was 82. Known for his voluminous gowns, with a generous use of ruffles, feathers and shimmer, de la Renta had been fighting cancer for nearly eight years.
