Suhani Bhatnagar's family reveals cause of death
Suhani Bhatnagar, known for playing young Babita Phogat in the movie Dangal, passed away at the age of 19 due to complications from dermatomyositis. Her parents shared the details of her health struggles. Two months before her death, she experienced swelling in her hands, which later spread throughout her body. Despite consulting multiple doctors, the autoimmune disorder remained unidentified until she was admitted to AIIMS.

At AIIMS, she was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease, and was treated with steroids. However, the treatment weakened her immune system, making her susceptible to infections. During her hospitalization, she contracted an infection that led to complications with her lungs, causing fluid buildup and breathing difficulties.
As per Pinkvilla, Suhani's father shared, "Even after putting her on a ventilator, her oxygen level was very low, and then yesterday evening at 7 pm, the AIIMS doctors said, 'she is not more,'"
Despite being on a ventilator, her oxygen levels remained low, and she passed away at 7 pm the day before. Suhani's parents expressed their pride in her academic achievements and her ambition to return to acting after completing her journalism and mass communication graduation.
'Dangal' contributors pay tribute
Aamir Khan's production house and her co-stars, including Zaira Wasim, director Nitesh Tiwari, and producer Kiran Rao, shared condolences on social media over her untimely demise.
Reacting to the news, Aamir Khan's Production house wrote on X, "We are deeply saddened to hear about our Suhani passing away. Our heartfelt condolences to her mother Poojaji, and the entire family. Such a talented young girl, such a team player, Dangal would have been incomplete without Suhani. Suhani, you will always remain a star in our hearts. May you rest in peace".
Dangal director, Nitesh Tiwari, while reacting to the sad news, shared, "Suhani’s passing away is absolutely shocking and heartbreaking. She was such a happy soul, so full of life. My deepest condolences to her family."

Dangal is a 2016 sports drama based on the life of India's Phogat sisters. The film directed by Nitesh Tiwari starred Aamir Khan in the lead role. The film featured Aamir as Mahavir Singh Phogat, an amateur wrestler who trains his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari to become India's first world-class female wrestlers. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra portrayed the adult versions of the two Phogat sisters while Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar their younger versions.
