An hour’s worth of prosthetic work and make-up went into enabling Chandan Roy Sanyal play the anti-hero in Sanak, says the actor
The actor’s look in the offering
The trailer of Vidyut Jammwal’s’ upcoming film Sanak — Hope Under Siege sees Chandan Roy Sanyal as a merciless villain, with his appearance piquing as much attention as his act. Prosthetics, make-up and an hour’s worth of work went into getting the actor ready for a shot. While a distinctive scar across his face, along with a unique hairstyle, made him visually appealing as the menacing anti-hero, a fair share of prep work was required to understand the psyche of a power-hungry, unpredictable and diabolical villain, who masterminds a siege over a hospital in the hostage drama.

Sanyal tells mid-day, “I had many ideas about how we could showcase this role. Each time I revisited the script, I thought of a different possibility of approaching the sinister character. This villain needs to evoke fear, and seem believable. The prosthetics and make-up helped a great deal in enabling that. Once I got into the head-space of the character, the actor and villain within [me] took over.” He shares screen space with Jammwal, Rukmini Maitra and Neha Dhupia.
