Pednekar, who will kick off year with Badhaai Do, on choosing six films from different genres to showcase her range as an artiste
Bhumi Pednekar
After a low-key 2021, Bhumi Pednekar has six films lined up for this year. She is set to open 2022 with Badhaai Do, whose trailer dropped online yesterday. The Harshvardhan Kulkarni-directed film is right up her alley as it highlights a social issue in an entertaining manner — through leads Rajkummar Rao and Pednekar, the film takes a light-hearted approach to tell the story of a lavender marriage. “I can’t wait to entertain the audiences with films from six different filmmakers, each with a unique voice of his own,” says the actor.

Pednekar, known to pick her projects carefully, says she has actively tried her hand at different genres — if she has a laugh riot in Govinda Naam Mera, she will also be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s social drama Bheed, Akshay Kumar’s family drama Raksha Bandhan and the suspense thriller, The Lady Killer. With another film to be announced soon, the actor hopes her projects will showcase her range as a performer. “Each project is close to my heart, and when they release, it will be like sharing a piece of my heart with the audiences. These films have taken every bit of emotion out of me. So, I only wish the best for them and the directors who have trusted me to bring their vision to life.”
