Atlee confirms working on script for Shah Rukh Khan-Thalapathy Vijay: Could be my next film

In an interview with Tamil TV presenter and YouTuber Gopinath, Atlee confirmed working on a script for Shah Rukh Khan and Thalapthy Vijay

Atlee gave one of the biggest blockbusters of the year with Jawan. He teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan for his debut Hindi film and the duo set the box office on fire. Now, as the director moves on to his next projects, he indicated in an interview with popular Tamil TV presenter and YouTuber Gopinath that he is working on a script that brings Shah Rukh and Thalapathy Vijay together.

Atlee revealed he invited Vijay to the set of Jawan in Chennai during the shoot of Zinda Banda song. The superstar did visit the team. During his visit to the set, Vijay and Shah Rukh discussed among themselves and requested Atlee to work on a script that allowed them to collaborate.

The director said in the interview, "I called Vijay Anna and invited him to the party, and he said he would make it for sure. So, when he came, Shah Rukh sir and Anna discussed between themselves and called me. Shah Rukh sir told me if I ever have plans of directing a dual hero film, they both are ready for it. Vijay Anna also said, ‘Ama pa’. So, I am working on it. It could be my next film. I am working very hard to come up with a script for it. Let’s see."

Before the release of Jawan, there were speculations of Vijay making a cameo in the film. However, in an interview with DT Next, Atlee dismissed it as false and said, "Vijay sir is not playing a cameo in the film. If that were the case, I would have announced it myself. Perhaps, I am planning a movie that will feature both of these actors in lead roles. In fact, I played a cameo in Jawan."

Workwise, Atlee is working on his next project. He will be bankrolling Varun Dhawan's upcoming film. According to reports, Keerthy Suresh will make her Bollywood debut with the yet-to-be-titled film. Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. He joined the famous LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) and his character will be developed further through spin-offs and sequels. 

Shah Rukh will be seen on the big screen again this year in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki. It will release on December 22, 2023.
