Yami Gautam to interact with legal representatives in Uttarakhand for lawyer act in next film Batti Gul Meter Chalu

Yami Gautam is following her act as a visually-impaired rape victim in Kaabil (2017) by turning lawyer for Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu. mid-day has it that Gautam will take on Shahid Kapoor's character, also a lawyer, in the film, set in Uttarakhand. In a bid to get into the skin of the character, Gautam will interact with lawyers working in small towns, apart from visiting tehsil courts.
A source tells mid-day about the social drama based on escalating electricity bills, "Yami is training under renowned lawyers in the city to understand the business. Also, she will visit tehsil courts in the state to understand the set up. The primary case in the film, which involves Yami, will be fought in a district court. Local lawyers will give her an insight into how things function in small-town courts."
In order to put up a tough fight with Kapoor, Gautam will invest a month-and-a-half in understanding how lawyers work, apart from studying their body language and mannerisms, the source says. She will start filming for her important scenes in March. Yesterday, the actor said in a statement that she is also turning to Hindi literature to get a grip on the language and dialect.
