In one of his interviews with india.com, the actor pulled out a leaf from his life before stardom, when he would do live theatre performances, and narrated a hilarious incident. "It was a play based on Mahabharata and I was playing Arjun. There was a crucial part where the warrior is cursed by an apsara Urvashi to live like a woman for one year."

Divulging further about the interesting character, he said, "I had to act like Arjun and then turn into this other avatar which is of a man in a woman's body. To get it perfect, I used to practice walking and talking like a woman and get the mannerisms right while wearing the attire (ghagra-choli). By the end of it, without even realising, I sometimes used to walk and talk in a certain way for people around me to mistake me as gay. I also had a few men try to get over-friendly. But then I spoke to them and cleared the doubts."

With 'Firangi,' Kapil wants to break the way in which people look at him. He wants people to look at him beyond the comedian Kapil Sharma. The film is a romantic genre, and is set in the backdrop of 1920s pre-independence era.
