You may even lose a kilo or two at the end of the week. But the more you deprive yourself of the food you love, the more you will crave it.

Inevitably, you'll break down and binge, then you'll not only gain those kilos back, but may add a couple more.

The vicious cycle will never end till you make a resolve to help yourself. Obesity expert Dr Muffazal Lakdawala shares some of his diet mantras with CS readers:

Do not skip meals in order to lose weight. Follow a healthy regime. Your aim should be good health and not to become 'thin'.
Eat slowly and chew well.
Eat frequently in small portions and drink 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday.
Your breakfast should be the largest meal of the day and dinner the smallest.
Eat nuts like flaxseeds, walnuts, pistachios, almonds everyday in small quantities.
Incorporate ragi, jowar, bajra, oats, soy, maize flour, etc in your diet.u00a0
When eating out, right selection of foods is important.u00a0
Exercise regularly. At least 45 minutes of cardio is a must.u00a0
Socialise, stay happy and share your fears.u00a0
Party hard but get some sleep. Sleep for at least 7-8 hours.
