The world from behind the lens

Here's your chance to see the world at one place. Mahesh Subramaniam and Karthik Nandyal are showcasing their travel photographs in an exhibition titled Textures in NCPA till February 21. CS spoke to Mahesh Subramaniam to know more about their work:

Around the world...
The exhibit has pictures from our travels across the globe. When we're on the road, we click multi-theme pictures without concentrating on a single subject. Some time ago, Karthik and I decided to collate all our pictures together. When we did that we found a thread of similarity running through many of our shots. So, we decided to put them under the title of 'Textures'.

Our hot-shots
There are quite a few pictures on display. For example, Karthik went on a trip to New Zealand's South Island, where he visited the remote corners of the Fox Glacier. The temperature was 250C below freezing level and our fingers were turning blue. We managed to shoot pictures of such inaccessible places that are unbelieveably beautiful.

A life-size picture of the Bayon in Angkor Wat is another highlight of the show. The idea behind the exhibition is to show the tremendous natural beauty that exists in this world.
Some of the pictures are abstract in nature. We have tried to capture our emotions of awe, wonder and joy in every frame.u00a0

We love to click...
Nature is our favourite topic. Anything that is nature related holds a lot of appeal to us, and makes for great abstract photography. I enjoy shooting children, when they are in an animated mood. It gives me immense joy. Both Karthik and I like abstract photography, as it's more imaginative in nature.u00a0
