She may know how to make Katrina Kaif and mum-to-be Kareena Kapoor Khan look their glamorous best at events or red carpets. However, you're more than likely to spot celebrity stylist Tanya Ghavri in comfy denim shorts.
"My father always tells me that I look really good if I dress up, but I just like running around in shorts," laughs the 30-year-old daughter of former cricketer Karsan Ghavri who played alongside Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev in the 1970s. This Friday, she will host a fashion pop-up, The Honeymoon Trunk Show, at Thalassa in Khar. This is soon after the success of her first bridal-themed pop-up as part of The Dhoom Dhaam Wedding Co, a wedding styling company founded with Ashi Dua.
Style tips from dad
"We wanted to come up with something interesting after a wedding-themed pop-up, and what better than a honeymoon one. However, the pop-up has something for everyone going on a holiday. It's not just those who are getting married and setting off on their honeymoons," says Ghavri, adding that she is keen to get her father to drop in at this pop-up. "He is very supportive. My sister (Panchami) and I get our ambition from him. He has always told us to stand on our own feet. I don't see him for days
because of work but he understands," she shares. When we ask if she gives him style tips too, she laughs, "Often, it's the other way round. From back in the day when he would play cricket, he has always been with it when it comes to fashion. He is particular about his suits; he likes classic, sharp cuts and mainly goes for monochromes or all-whites," she says.
What's at the pop-up?
The pop-up hosts 15 labels under one roof, with offerings ranging from swimsuits and resortwear to maxi dresses, linen shirts along with accessories like shoes and bags. On display will be creations from Goa-based resortwear brand Studio Tia, swimwear label Flirtatious, Label Ritu Kumar, Delhi-based Kanika Goyal, Lola by Suman B, Deme by Gabriella, Pause, Soshru, Guapa, bags from Cord and jewellery from Valliyan.
