Five years after he popularised the term Womaniya in his crime-drama, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Anurag Kashyap's distribution company, Phantom Films, is set to use the name for its upcoming venture.
A source tells mid-day that a women-oriented crime-drama has been penned, and the unit is zeroing in on the cast for the film. "It is a gritty outing, which will see two female actors in the lead, both will need to pack in a punch, and literally."
We hear that Parineeti Chopra and Taapsee Pannu are prime contenders for the part. The source adds, "Parineeti featured in Phantom's Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), which was well received, and both parties have been looking for the right script to collaborate again."
Given that Pannu has pulled off high-octane action sequences in the recently released Naam Shabana, her casting seems appropriate, the source adds.
