When the Hindi remake of bestseller 'The Fault In Our Stars' was announced last year, there was buzz about Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan being signed on as the lead pair. While the actress’ participation in the Homi Adajania film was confirmed only a couple of days ago, we hear the makers have finally zeroed in on Sushant Singh Rajput to play her love interest.

Says an insider, “There were a lot of contenders for the lead actor’s role. Talks with Sushant have been fruitful and he has taken on board. The official announcement on his casting will be made soon. He is not allowed to speak about the deal yet. The script is ready and we have started the pre-production work.”
The 2012 bestseller by John Green was adapted into an eponymous English film last year which proved to be a big grosser besides earning critical acclaim. Shailene Woodley played a 16-year-old cancer patient who attends a support group and falls in love with another cancer survivor (Ansel Elgort).
Another source says, “We wanted a fresh pairing for this project and both Sushant and Deepika will make for a good on-screen couple. We intend to begin shooting by the end of this year or early next year as per the availability of their dates. Currently, Sushant is busy with the MS Dhoni biopic and Deepika is close to wrapping up Bajirao Mastani and Tamasha.”
While Homi remained unavailable for comment, Sushant says, “I have not been approached for Fault.”
