Shekhar Kapur's 'Paani' starring Sushant Singh Rajput has been long in the making. Set in a futuristic world where water is controlled by multinational companies, the film was supposed to go on the floors in 2013, but it has constantly been delayed. While Yash Raj Films, which was producing the film, has neither denied nor admitted buzz about the film being shelved, the actor regrets that 'Paani' is no longer working out for him.

"For almost a year, I was preparing for it. I rejected a lot of offers to work on it. The time I spent with Shekhar was like doing 10 years of an acting course. It was the most exciting period of my career as it was an ambitious project. I regret that it's not happening, it taught me a lot and made me mature as an actor."

Sushant is curently busy promoting 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. His last film, 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!' (2015), received a lukewarm response. The actor realises that this time there is big money riding on his shoulders. But he is unafraid of failing.

"I want to fail, but it should not be a mediocre failure. It should be massive. Ek ehsaas karne ke liye it is important to fail badly and destroy me as an individual. At the same time, I don't want mediocre success either. I want to be part of films where I can take risks. My agenda as an actor is to learn and grow every day. I am not here for money or fame. If that were the case, I wouldn't have quit television. I don't aspire to be a star. I never came to this industry to be the number one star. I wanted to be a number one actor."
