For his film 'Bank Chor', Vivek Oberoi took cues from veteran actor Suresh Oberoi's 'kadak' policeman roles

In the promos of 'Bank Chor', Vivek Oberoi appears as the quintessential tough cop, donning a handlebar moustache and wearing a serious expression. For the role, Vivek says, he turned to daddy Suresh Oberoi for inspiration and watched films like 'Tezaab' that featured the veteran actor as a policeman.
"I looked at him playing a kadak cop and picked up three things — the voice heavy, moustache and lean physique. My father had a great baritone and there are chances that I might sound like him in the film. I trained physically to look lean yet intimidating. Bank Chor is largely a comedy, but as soon my character, Amjad Khan, enters, it becomes a thriller. People will question if I am a good or a bad cop," he says.
Having had five releases in the past four years, Vivek is consciously taking his career slow. "Until 2013, I worked for 300-odd days a year. Then my son, Vivaan, was born; I missed out of many of his 'first' moments. That's when I decided to have a work-life balance."
On his equation with co-star Riteish
Vivek, who is teaming up with Riteish Deshmukh for the fifth time in Bank Chor, says it's always fun to be on the set with him.
"This time, it was even more interesting because normally we end up playing friends but this time we are at odds. He is family. I love working with him, both as a colleague and friend."
Daddy talk often takes precedence when the two meet. "I am two years senior to Riteish in that division so we keep learning things from each other."
