Wills Lifestyle Look of the Day

Hemant Lalwani and Nandita Raipurani's 'I'm going to Ibiza' collection had a beachy, flowery feel. This show-some-hide-some piece took the cake

Homesickness amid high style

While others were making merry, model Nethra Raghuraman took refuge in a book
We caught up with a rather lost-looking Nethra Raghuraman backstage, as she told us how she was missing home. "I am a person who needs 'me time'. First, I was busy with the couture week, then came Diwali, and now, here I am, with just no time to myself." Poor girl. "I am also missing Fleur (Xavier) a lot;u00a0 she is in the US right now. Delhi used to feel like home with her,you see." We, for one, didn't know Fleur made for such a good friend! So, we wondered how she was distracting herself. "I am reading this book called Shiva: The Wild God of Power and Ecstasy by Wolf-Dieter Storl along with the Ramayana series." Till, of course, she's off to the US.

Desi drive

The dhoti made a dazzling comeback in Abdul Haldar's andaaz

Abdul Halder's wedding trousseau wooed the crowd with its desi experimentation. While the collection included classy suits for the men, the women's line boasted of heavily embellished lehengas, suits, saris and even the dhoti in a bright, bold avatar. The embellishments included polkis, kundans and Swarovskiu00a0 for a fun, feisty bridal look. Interestingly, the drapes of sarees in his show were inspired from different states of India. Apart from being vibrant, vivacious andu00a0 ostentatious, the numbers were naughty and not-so-ordinary.

Wested interest

Shantanu Goenka's dainty gowns were inspired by britain's ascot race

Krishna Somani reels in Shantanu Goenka's glory

Talk about playing lambi race ka ghoda. Muted yet majestic, Shantanu Goenka's gorgeous gowns were based on Britain's most popular race Ascot, held at the racecourse by the same name. Beautiful bows, empire waistlines, heavy netting, balloon and bubble cuts, among others, marked the pretty line. Satins, laces and taffetta shaped the baby-doll dresses, feathered skirts andu00a0 crinoline borders in colours like snowy whites, ivory, ecru andu00a0 blush pinks. The smoky make-up did the sexy bit.
